Brooke Baldwin is a 35-year-old American TV news anchor, working on the CNN where she hosts CNN Newsroom, weekdays from 2 pm to 4 pm. She covered a numerous top stories throughout her career.
Lauren Brooke Baldwin was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 12, 1979. She attended The Westminster Schools in the same city. Baldwin later attended the University of North Carolina and graduated with two bachelor’s degrees, one in journalism and other in Spanish. This language was always attracted her, so she also studied at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia was the first job in Baldwin’s career. Later, she worked as the morning anchor at WOWK-TV in the West Virginia area. After that, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she was a lead reporter for the 10 pm newscast at WTTG. The major step forward in her career was when she joined CNN and HLN networks in 2008. Baldwin was a big contributor in the network’s award-winning coverage of the presidential election in 2008. She was involved in the space shuttle Atlantis launching in 2011 and also covered the death of Osama bin Laden, the Benghazi attack, the tsunami and earthquake in Japan, and the Syria crisis. This versatile journalist created her first long documentary called “To Catch a Killer”, which won a Silver World Medal for Best Investigative Report at the New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards 2012. Brook Baldwin co-anchored the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee from London, with Piers Morgan. She became a central figure in her network’s reporting as she reported live from the Golden Globe Awards in 2013, and a couple of weeks later, Baldwin covered the second inauguration of President Obama. Brooke also successfully covered the Boston marathon bombings and also anchored a live show from Fenway Park during the baseball World Series.
The major controversy in her career happened during the Baltimore riots in 2015 because she suggested that war veterans are not suitable to be the police officers, claiming that they were directly responsible for the riots. "I love our nation’s veterans, but some of them are coming back from war, they don’t know the communities, and they are ready to do battle,”- Baldwin said. She had to confront with the criticism she received on Twitter, but she pushed the critics initially, later she publicly apologized on Twitter and on-air.
There is no much detail about her personal life, she obviously keeps it away from the public eyes. Brooke had a long time relationship with Jay David, a veterinarian specialized in horses. The couple got married in 2010. An interesting fact from her life is that she appeared in two movies, one short called Drunkards and another called The Bloody Indulgent.
