Karen Finney (KF) is a former American political advisor. She has worked as a political reporter for the network MSNBC. She has also hosted the program called "Disrupt/with Karen-Finney". Finney belongs to Democratic political party, and frequently addresses the issue of conservative attitude towards women.
Finney worked as a spokesperson for the DNCand also assumed the position of Director of interactions. She remained on the post for four years. She has published some of her writing also for the magazine “Hill”. Finney has also worked at the post of Press Secretary for Hillary Rodham Clinton.She has also worked as a commentator for networks Politico, MSNBC and the magazine “Huffington Post”.
Finney hosted her own show throughout 2013-2014. In 2013, the news spread about the beginning of the show. The show aired as a weekend news plan. The show was called [The Disrupt----with Karen Finney] and aired on [MS-NBC] starting April 2013, and was eventually canceled in June, 2014.
In 2014, Finney went on to join Media Matters, at a post of the senior member plus consultant. She remained at the post for about a year, before her career had taken a step up.
In April, 2015, it was announced by CNN declared that Finney assumed a position as Adviser in Strategic Communications, as well as a Senior Spokesperson. She assumed this position in a campaign for president thatwas led by Hillary Clinton.
Finney’s show, the “Disrupt”, was a political news and commentary television program. The show aired on weekend afternoons, at 4:00 p.m. ET on network MSNBC. The show lasted from April 2013 to June 2014. Karen Finney herself was the host.
Finney served as a Democratic political operative. Since 2009, she has been a political commentator at MSNBC.
Before assuming this post, Finney had worked on four campaigns. She had also served as deputy press secretary to ex first lady,Hillary Clinton.
Finney had served as a spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee. After she started hosting her own show, Finney ended her consultant work.
Finney’s show was the second in order for weekend MSNBC program that had featured an African American host, after Melissa Harris-Perry assuming the first position.
Originally announced without a title, Finney show began promoting in 2013. The show began airing in the middle of big changes happening at MSNBC. The network had in mind to improve their weekend program.
The first episode of the show was originally delayed, but aired on June 8, 2013. The discussion in the show’s premiere was about the conservative view on a woman. Finneys guest for the premiere was U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.
The “Disrupt” aired for about a year and was eventually canceled in 2014.
Being a renowned political spokesperson, Finney hasn’t missed to address the issue of position of women in modern politics. A democrat by her beliefs, she had frequently criticized conservative view on woman.
