Early Life and Education:
Mike Golic was born on December 12, 1962 in Willowick, Ohio. He went to St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio then graduated from the university, Notre Dame in 1985 in finance and management major, but he chose football as his career. He served as a captain of the football team during his senior season and also wrestled for the Irish.
Mike Golic is married to Christine Golic. They both met in Notre Dame where he was a defensive lineman and captain of the football team and Christine was a high school cheerleader. They both fell in love and got married. They are living a happily married life as they both have proved to be supportive, loving and caring partners for each other. They both can be called as “football couple”.
Mike and Christine have three children; two sons and one daughter. All the three children went to the same university, Notre Dame. His eldest son Mike Jr. (born September 28, 1989) and middle son Jake (born December 25, 1990) are both into football, but their daughter Sydney (born December 21, 1994) is into swimming for Irish. She is as confident as her mother and her mother calls her a “daredevil”.
They all are known as “football family”; Mike as a “football father”, Christine as “football mother” and their children as “football children”.
Mike Golic is a former NFL defensive lineman and a nine-year NFL veteran, playing defensive tackle for the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins. He joined ESPN in 1995 as an analyst for Sunday NFL Countdown. Currently he is working with ESPN Radio for “Mike & Mike” as a co-host with Mike Greenberg and for ESPN2’s NFL studio programming as an analyst. He is a hard worker focused on his career. Talking about his achievements he has received a Mid-Atlantic Region Emmy Award for his feature Golic’s Got It.
In 2010 he co-wrote a book “Mike and Mike's Rules for Sports and Life” with the co-host Mike Greenberg.
Besides being a loving, caring and supportive husband and father, he is also a person to keep his personal and professional life separate. So far he is successful in managing the dilemma. He never talks about his personal life on-air as his personality is enough to attract audience, he doesn’t need to throw pieces of his personal life as bait.
