The SLK having 415 is not a lot nowadays. The SLK weighs 3,400+ pounds, and is in the ballpark range of power and weight with the Mustang 5.0 and Corvette.

  • “I’m perfectly happy for a manufacturer to bring back a better car, provided that car either represents a standard customer car ‘or’ they clearly disclose the improvements made to the car being tested.” I agree. If improvements McLaren make, or any other manufacturer make in a similar situation, reflect changes made to the customer’s cars, I’m all [...]

When I can afford to do so…

    I won’t.

I can’t buy a Macca, at least not now. Just Fezzas.

  • I wondered if Ferrari was tuning their cars or merely just making sure they were as correct to factory spec as possible.

After awhile, I just stopped caring, and went back to lusting after Ferrari’s cars like since before I can remember.

    • You know what´s next .. right???
now we MUST buy , one the 458, and another the mp4 , and race against each other.
      Just joking :)

      • The 458 Italia is absolutely fantastic – much better than the F430 that preceeded it. I had the opportunity to compare it with a 911 GT3 RS last month (at Estoril circuit) and the 458 was just as capable if not more. It’s no wonder the MP4 is finding it a formiddable challenge to beat ;)

          • yes, i also have been in a 458 (stationary) , but i pretty much got the cockpit idea about being so oriented towards the driver.
can´t way nothing about the mp4 but i think it can be a good match in those terms too.

I test drove a new Mini Cooper and a MIni Cooper S. The Mini Cooper felt underpowered just a tad to me, even after my already very slow Miata. The Cooper S was much more brisk, actually quite quick, but I disliked it. The feeling of it being front wheel drive was quite different to what I’m used to. It felt completely unnatural.

    • i have the experience both FWD and RWD cars and i have to say that FWD are good and safe but never as entertaining as RWD. it´s just physics. :)

      • Front wheel drive should be banned in anything but vanilla family cars.

        • Wow guys! easy on the FWD hate! I’ve driven all variants and although i agree RWD does have the edge, followed by 4WD, i still think there is something inherently amusing about FWD. Ensuring your as efficient as possible is a really satisfying feeling. Same thing with managing oversteer in a RWD car, so the balance between grip and understeer i…[Read more]

It certainly is FWD. At one point in recent years, GM had at least 6 FWD V8 cars in its line up.

Otherwise, wait for the new Camaro on it’s small Caddy ATS platform with 300hp+ V6 or a new Mustang EcoBoost SVO model.

Hopefully the double injection system will help alleviate carbon build up that direct inject only engines are known for.

As far as high revving engines go, I think the trend is definitely going away from them. It may be sad, but blame all the nonsense around fuel and emissions standards.

After the 458, the Scuderia’s interior looks like a glorified kit car. And that’s why the Scuderia is so much more special than the 458. I really dig the stripped out look.

I hate just reading about them and can’t wait to get behind the wheel myself one day. The worst car you’ve driven is probably still better than my best!
